According to the Express & Star (17 April), Villa’s board of directors has welcomed billionaire businessman Michael Angelakis, the chairman and CEO of Atairos, who joined after his company acquired a minority share in the club’s ownership group.
Speaking only to Villa News, King also thinks Emery and Villa can only benefit monetarily from this.
“Today, any financial infusion for a football team has to be beneficial,” King stated.
“It is likely that Angelakis was acquainted with some of Villa’s American owners in the past.
As long as Villa is still able to follow the profit and sustainability guidelines, this might allow them the authority to invest an additional few hundred million, which could only be advantageous for the club’s expansion.
Emery will believe he deserves support since he has led Aston Villa to the verge of the UEFA Champions League.
