Joe Hart set to sign a pre-agreement contract to join Manchester city despite retirement news.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Manchester City, the team has confirmed.

The news was released by the club on Friday:

“Joe Hart has committed his long-term future to the Club, agreeing terms on a new contract at the Etihad Stadium which will run until the end of the 2018/19 season”.

The England star will reportedly receive a weekly salary of £110,000 under the terms of the contract, which is valid until 2019, according to Jamie Jackson of The Guardian.

According to the team’s statement, Hart is thrilled about the move and told mcfc.co.uk:

“I’m really happy, I’ve been here a long time now and I want to keep that going.

The new deal means I get to stay longer—the club’s doing amazing things at the moment, we’ve created history and we want to keep doing that.

Wanting to stay here was never going to be an issue for me – I’ve loved every moment since I joined.

The Club’s growing and I’ve been really lucky to be part of the ride.

I just want to keep winning with the team and keep developing. A lot of the boys have signed long-term deals, so we’re building as a squad and I think that quite a few of us have been here for a long time now.

We’re enjoying building that winning mentality, how the Club is growing is around us and how we need to grow along with it”.

The 27-year-old, who joined the team in 2006 after leaving Shrewsbury Town, has made 276 appearances and has played a significant role in several trophy-filled years at the Etihad Stadium. Hart has won four significant trophies since securing the team’s No. 1 jersey: two Premier League crowns, the FA Cup, and the League Cup.

According to BBC Sport, City manager Manuel Pellegrini lauded Hart’s impact on this current team before he signed the contract.

Hart has proven himself as the best goalkeeper in his country throughout his time in Manchester, and this new contract shows that City sees Hart as the best player to play in goal as the team moves forward into more unavoidable glory.

After experiencing a poor season, Pellegrini benched Hart from the starting lineup in 2013–14. However, he handled the media’s harsh criticism and his own omission very well. Ever since his return to the starting lineup, he has seemed like a lot more composed and reassuring presence.

Although there are several excellent goalkeepers in the Premier League, Hart is still one of the greatest. His distribution and area control are getting better every year, and he makes excellent saves.

He might not have the most outgoing or flashy stopper or personality, therefore he doesn’t receive the recognition he merits. But despite all the famous people who have come and gone from the Etihad in recent years, the Englishman has stayed a mainstay.

He is a lucky player for the champions, and it appears from his new contract that they plan to keep him around for a very long time.
