Ahead of the summer transfer window, Newcastle United has rekindled their interest in Nottingham Forest

player Morgan Gibbs-White, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old’s signature is thought to be on the horizon for the Magpies, as Football Insider reported on

March 26 that Spurs are the front-runners to sign him.

Newcastle was interested in Gibbs-White in January; earlier this year, insiders told Football Insider that the

Tyneside team was keeping a close eye on the Nottingham Forest star.

After losing two points for financial infractions, the Midlands team is now just one point above the drop zone in

the standings, sitting at 17th place.

Newcastle, however, is anticipated to have financial resources to spend this summer, and manager Eddie Howe

is eager for his team to compete in the market and bring in more offensive players.

To raise more money, the Magpies may decide to sell midfield player Bruno Guimaraes,

who has been connected to big European teams like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Newcastle jumps into the Gibbs-White race as Forest prepares to offload many talents.

Despite Forest’s poor league standing, Gibbs-White has performed well in the 2023–24 season,

recording six goals and seven assists in 37 games across all competitions.

He signed a deal with the team that expires in June 2027 after joining from Wolves in 2022 for an estimated

£42.5 million including add-ons.

After a difficult first half of the season, Newcastle has mounted a late fight for European qualification and is

currently sixth in the standings with five games remaining.

Tottenham‘s position in the Premier League at fifth may be sufficient to guarantee them a spot in the

Champions League for the next season.
