Everton: Paul Merson discusses the latest Nottingham Forest decision following the live Luton defeat on Sky Sports.

Paul Merson has declared that if Luton Town wants to stay in the Premier League this season, they must hope Nottingham Forest can defeat both Everton and them.

The former midfielder for Arsenal expressed his opinion that although Luton is now up against five cup finals, they will fall behind if Sean Dyche’s team wins their next two games.

Merson proposed that if Forest wins on April 21 and Luton wins when the Toffees visit Kenilworth Road, Luton will overtake Forest and move out of the relegation zone.

Merson said during a live interview on Sky Sports News on April 20, 2017, 17:32, “They have five more cup finals.” They lost that cup final, but they still have five more.

They must hope that Forest wins so they can go on to defeat Everton and restart the game.

There must be more to it than that. They still have a chance, but they need Forest to defeat Everton in order to go up above them. They will be in the same situation if Everton goes on to win and defeats them. Tomorrow is a significant game for me.

The club’s additional goal difference – with 12 goals separating them from Luton – could prove crucial as the season draws to its closing stages. With six games left to play for the Toffees, five for Forest and four for Luton, anything could happen.

At Everton’s expense, can Luton Town continue to improve?

To be clear, if they lose to Forest and Luton, they won’t deserve any better.

As Merson explained, two losses in their next two games would put the team in the relegation zone. They can’t afford to lose these games, so they have to win them.

With 12 goals separating them from Luton, the club’s extra goal differential may come in handy as the season comes to a close. Anything can happen with six games remaining for the Toffees, five for Forest, and four for Luton.
