The Black Cats’ season has been erratic since Tony Mowbray was fired as manager and replaced.
After a disastrous stint, Michael Beale was later fired. As the English Championship team searches for a new
manager, Mike Dodds is now in interim leadership.
Goalkeeper Anthony Patterson was reportedly coveted by Arsenal, Celtic, and Liverpool;
on Friday, indications indicated that the interest is “genuine.”
As starting goalie Joe Hart gets ready to hang up his cleats at the end of the campaign,
the Hoops will be searching for a replacement this summer.
Although Scott Bain is a seasoned backup at Celtic,
he is unlikely to challenge Benjamin Siegirst for the top spot in the long run.
Along with the Hoops and Liverpool target, Jobe Bellingham, Jack Clarke, Dan Neil,
and Daniel Ballard are also drawing interest, but Dodds believes Sunderland is in an excellent position to make
large money.
“It has to be right for the football club, and all those players have contracts,” Dodds stated.
The club is in a strong position because of their long contracts.
“Therefore, it’s very evident that whoever wants to come and sign a Sunderland player will have to pay the
higher price because, well, they’re young players who have already performed well but still have room to grow.”
