Despite indications of Brandon Aiyuk’s stay with the San Francisco 49ers, NFL pundits persist in linking him to the Pittsburgh Steelers, stirring the pot of trade rumors.

Steelers Reportedly Trading Aiyuk, Adding New Dimension to NFL Draft Drama

Fox Sports’ David Helman and Carmen Vitali ignited discussions proposing a trade scenario involving the Steelers’ No. 20 overall pick for Aiyuk. Drawing comparisons to past trades, they argue for Aiyuk’s potential to upgrade the Steelers’ receiving corps.

In their proposal, Helman and Vitali wrote: “Maybe you think pick No. 20 is rich for an All-Pro wide receiver, but I’m here to remind you the Titans fetched more when they sent A.J. Brown to Philadelphia two years ago. Aiyuk would massively upgrade the Steelers‘ receiver corps, and the 49ers would then have two first-round picks to use in the same draft.”

However, details remain murky regarding the potential trade package. Yet, Aiyuk’s impressive stats in 2023, including a career-high 1,342 receiving yards, heighten the intrigue surrounding his future.

The Steelers’ pursuit of Aiyuk gained momentum this offseason, fueled by the team’s need at wide receiver after trading Diontae Johnson. NFL pundits have connected the Steelers to Aiyuk through trade rumors, envisioning a dynamic duo with George Pickens.

While Steelers insider Gerry Dulac confirmed the team’s pursuit of Aiyuk, 49ers general manager John Lynch and Aiyuk’s agent have downplayed trade talks. Despite speculation, all indications suggest Aiyuk will remain with the 49ers.

Gerry Dulac noted in a fan chat: “The Steelers ‘have’ pursued Aiyuk this offseason.” However, he also clarified: “[The Steelers] would love to pursue Aiyuk, and have, but that doesn’t mean the 49ers want to trade him.”

On social media, Aiyuk’s agent Ryan Williams responded to trade rumors, stating: “Another ‘report’ that couldn’t be more incorrect. Fictional ‘journalism’ should really stop.”

As the NFL draft approaches, the swirl of rumors surrounding Aiyuk’s potential move to the Steelers adds suspense to the offseason. Will the Steelers secure their coveted receiver, or will Aiyuk stay put in San Francisco? Only time will tell.
