Sadden:Ipswich Town Off Top of the championship After Leicester Win
Following Saturday’s games, which saw Southampton lose and Leicester City win and take the lead once again, there was mixed news for Town.
With three games remaining for both teams, the Foxes defeated a lethargic West Brom 2-1 in the midday sun at
King Power Stadium thanks to a combination of luck and a missed penalty.
This victory moved them two points clear of the Blues in second place.
The Saints, who will play Leicester in a rescheduled game on Tuesday, once again displayed their vulnerable
side when Cardiff City overcame a 2-1 deficit at the Cardiff City Stadium. The 96th minute of the game proved
to be the game’s winning goal, mirroring both Town’s away game against the Bluebirds and their home game
against the Hampshire team.
Fourth position With 43 games played, Southampton is currently five points behind the Blues,
and their goal differential is three goals poorer than Town’s.
The Blues’ opponents this weekend are Coventry City, who play Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final
tomorrow, and Leeds United, who are now in third place, who visit Middlesbrough on Monday.
