In the shootout, the goalie transformed from zero to hero status by stopping Killian Phillips’ sudden death attempt and setting up a return trip to Hampden in May with his spot-kick.

Hart, meanwhile, remains unfazed by his first professional penalty and maintains that mental clarity is vital in critical situations.

After being beaten twice—once at the beginning and once at the conclusion of an amazing semifinal—

the goalie assumed a central role in the penalty kick after Angus MacDonald’s late header tied the game at the end of extra time.

However, if the season’s final game takes place next month and goes all the way, he will gladly take on the role again against Rangers or Hearts.

“I fully support myself, the team supports me, the manager supports me, and I told him I’d put my name forward again,” Hart declared.

“I followed my process, but I think I took it a touch too far, but I still stand by what I do.

“Even though we won, I’ll always put myself forward because I think I’m a decent penalty taker.

I’m sad that I didn’t score tonight.

“In the end, I’ll put myself forward whether or not I’m needed to.

“You need people who are secure in their abilities and who have clarity of mind in situations like that.

“I’ll always put myself on the line and sometimes I miss.”

After a thrilling game, Hart was able to make up for hitting the post by holding off Killian Phillips’ strike to win 6-5.

After barely two minutes, Bojan Miovski took the lead before Nicholas Kuhn tied the score by taking advantage of a defensive error by MacDonald.

JOE HART says he’ll take another penalty for Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final next month – if he gets the chance.

James Forrest, a late header from Dons substitute Ester Sokler, gave Celtic the lead and thirty more minutes to enjoy in front of a packed Hampden.

“I’ll always put myself on the line and sometimes I miss.”

Hart survived a nail-biting encounter to win 6-5, making up for his earlier strike against the post.

Bojan Miovski took the lead after just two minutes, but Nicholas Kuhn leveled the score by taking advantage of a MacDonald defensive blunder.

In front of a crowded Hampden,

Celtic took the lead with a late header from Dons replacement Ester Sokler and James Forrest,

giving them thirty more minutes to enjoy.

Matt O’Riley’s conversion of Alistair Johnston’s cut-back made them live up to the previous ninety,

but MacDonald made up for his first-half indecision by forcing an exhilarating shoot-out.

But Hart’s tale of redemption—rather than the captain of the Dons—was the star of the show.

He has performed well in preseason games and as a rookie goalkeeper in an under-21 competition,

but never in a professional game when it counted.

“Fortunately, being the goalie pays off, so I was able to redeem myself,” he continued.

“We just need to stay focused. We have a great team.

“Aside from losing to Kilmarnock early in the League Cup, we’ve done well in every competition we’ve entered,

with the exception of the Champions League.

We now have a date for the finish of the season to look forward to, and we might play right down to the wire in the league.”
