Stewart Donald, Juan Sartori, and Charlie Methven each own a minority ownership in the League One team,

which has been acquired by the Frenchman.

With an estimated net worth of over £26 billion, the Louis-Dreyfus Group is a global leader in food processing,

agriculture, and transportation in addition to being the owner of multiple hedge funds.

After a protracted fight with leukemia, Kyril’s father Robert served as CEO of Adidas from 1994 to 2001.

The Louis-Dreyfus family controlled Marseille until they sold it in 2016.

The 23-year-old, who takes over as chairman of Sunderland,

is thought to have a £2 billion trust fund managed by his mother Margarita Bogdanova.

Louis-Dreyfus attended Sunderland’s recent League One games versus Doncaster Rovers and Shrewsbury Town.

They are currently one point outside of the playoffs in seventh place in the table.

The Black Cats advanced to the Papa John’s Trophy final at Wembley on Wednesday night after defeating Lincoln City on penalties.

Louis-Dreyfus expressed gratitude to Stewart, the Board of Directors,

and the EFL for their hard work and assistance during the recent procedure.

“I acknowledge the great responsibility that comes with being a custodian of this prestigious institution,

but I am also proud to take on this role.”

“Today is the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Sunderland AFC’s history,

and although there will undoubtedly be challenges given the state of football today,

I am confident that working together, we can weather the current storm and lay the groundwork for long-term,

sustainable success for the club.”

Greetings to Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, our new chairman and controlling stakeholder, from the club, stated Donald.

Kyril’s dedication, intelligence, and honesty persuaded us to approve his suggestion.

“We believe his bid offers Sunderland the best chance of long-term success and sustainability because of his clear vision and desire to bring success back to the club.”

‘Sunderland was losing £35 million a year, was almost bankrupt, and was facing relegation to League One when we started talks with Ellis Short three years ago.

“Our goal was to work hard to stabilize the club’s finances, turn it around, and get promoted back into the Championship.”

“I am happy to report that, in terms of SAFC’s finances, we have accomplished our goals.

The club is debt-free, was breaking even before the pandemic, and has managed to hold onto its Category One Academy status.”

It is no secret, though, that on-field success has lagged behind despite the greatest transfer costs and playing salaries in League One history.

“As owners, we are deeply disappointed by this and can only apologize for our shortcomings in this area.”

“Although we undoubtedly made mistakes, everything was done with the best of intentions to achieve this goal.

Unfortunately, in football, a miss is as good as a mile,” so we were just short.

But the club’s foundations are set for better times, having just secured its third Wembley final in three seasons and continuing to pursue promotion.

“We are hopeful and confident that the new management group, led by Kyril, can ultimately accomplish the turnaround and get the team moving up the divisions once more.”
