SPFL quick to punish Dundee, but in no rush to deal Celtic’s Ibrox concerns

Due to the condition of the Dens Park surface this season, which has caused multiple postponements of Dundee FC’s games, the SPFL yesterday fined the team heavily.

That’s all well and good, but it does bring up some interesting points,

one of which is why the league’s governing body hasn’t been more proactive in handling rule violations by other clubs that fall under their purview

.After all, it has only been two weeks since “supporters” SPFL quick to punish Dundee, but in no rush to deal Celtic’s Ibrox concerns

flung money and bottles onto the field of play and toward the dug out during the Glasgow derby at Ibrox,

endangering the safety of Celtic players and management once more—and not for the first time either.

Furthermore, it should be mentioned that although the SPFL was involved in negotiating the agreement that will permit away fans to attend Glasgow

Derby games the following season, Celtic has denied tickets for that away corner at Ibrox

because of seven incidents in which their supporters have been hit by projectiles,

including bottles.For these earlier occurrences,

in which broken glass was hurled into Joe Hart’s goalmouth at the beginning of the second half of the Glasgow Derby at Ibrox in April 2022,

what fine did the SPFL impose on the Rangers?

The Celtic coaching staff member who was struck by a glass during that particular game is currently residing at His Majesty’s Pleasure.

However, neither the authorities nor the Rangers have ever said anything,

though Philippe Clement did, in fairness, denounce the last two incidences.

However, when a match is postponed twice in one season,

it causes panic and has resulted in a club being fined. Funny that, isn’t it?
