Keith Wyness, the former head of Everton, stated that Nottingham Forest’s appeal against a four-point

deduction for violating expenditure regulations is unlikely to succeed.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO of Goodison Park from

2004 to 2009, stated that the Midlands club’s arguments won’t be compelling enough to overturn the initial

decision in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

The Independent (15 April) reports that Forest’s appeal against their four-point penalty for violating the

Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League will be heard the week of April 22.

Wyness previously informed Football Insider on April 18 that Brennan Johnson’s transfer to Tottenham,

which occurred too late to be shown in the 2022–23 financial statements, will probably be the main focus of the appeal.

Forest’s PSR was £34.5 million more than the £61 million allowable limit.

The Nottingham Forest appeal’s reasons are “not strong enough,” according to Wyness.
With five games left in the season, the Midlands club sits just one point above the relegation zone in the standings after the four-point penalty.
Wyness stated on the Insider Track podcast of Football Insider, “I believe the three-point deduction will remain as it is.

“The points are not going away.

I believe there will be some deadlock in this appeal.Their arguments don’t seem compelling enough to win

them a point or anything else, in my opinion.

“However, this appeals process will present an additional 50-page document that presents an alternative

decision from an alternative panel of independent experts.”Potential legal precedent, loopholes, and this

commission’s disagreement with earlier panels will all follow.
