Ipswich Town: Kieran McKenna frustrated with FFP limitations and no updates on new signings

Although there is nothing fresh to announce on incoming agreements,

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna acknowledged he is a little irritated with the Financial Fair Play regulations restricting the Blues.

Less than a week remains in the January transfer window,

and the team is hoping to add players, including two strikers to replace George Hirst after his long-term injury,

Dane Scarlett returning to Tottenham, and Freddie Ladapo leaving on loan.

Sam Gallagher of Blackburn has been the subject of another bid attempt,

but Rovers have declined it, presumably because losing the forward would leave them without an attacker.

When asked if there had been any transfers since the window closed on Thursday at 11 p.m., every week,

McKenna replied, “There’s certainly nothing to report as of yet.”

The club is still working very hard given the constraints we have, but nothing will be completed by tomorrow, for sure.

“We feel that we need to, and we’re still hoping to add to the squad by next week.”

I’m confident that the club will exert every effort to see that through.

In response to a question about what might be preventing deals from going through,

he said, “There’s not necessarily a problem.” Naturally, the fact that we have lost three strikers this window presents a dilemma for us.
