Rangers have suffered a second setback to their title hopes in as many days, drawing with Dundee at Dens Park.

The Ibrox club will now enter the final five games of the season three points behind Celtic, having gone three league games without a win.

Dundee nearly took an early lead as Malachi Boateng shot just wide of Jack Butland’s post after only a minute of play.

The home team then suffered a setback when captain Joe Shaughnessy was injured and replaced by Antonio Portales.

Rangers were looking for an early goal and had many chances,

including Kemar Roofe’s header and Abdallah Sima’s drive that was saved by Dundee custodian Jon McCracken.

The game was flowing from end to end in the first half, and Dundee

had a penalty appeal turned down following a rapid VAR examination when John Souttar was suspected of handling the ball in the box.

Soon after, Tiffoney fired a rebounding shot past Butland, but it was called offside.

McCracken was then put into action again, making two great saves to keep Tavernier and Goldson out,

keeping the score at 0-0 at the interval.

Ten minutes into the second half, Philippe Clement made three changes: Cyriel Dessers, Rabbi Matondo,

and Kieran Dowell replaced Todd Cantwell, Roofe, and Fabio Silva.

Tony Docherty then made his own alterations, replacing Bakayoko and Tiffoney with Curtis Main and Dara Costelloe, respectively.

With twenty minutes left on the clock, Dessers came close to opening the score with a curling effort from outside the box,

but McCracken just got a hand to it as it appeared to be heading for the top corner.

Rangers continued to try for a winner as the clock ticked down, and Matondo shot wide of the post with little over five minutes remaining.
