James Bisgrove didn’t start the Old Firm ticket allocation feud – but the new Rangers CEO is determined to settle it.

And hopefully silence the likes of Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers in the process.

The Glasgow major two have decided to share a European-style allocation starting in the next season,

with each team giving the other at least 5% of their respective grounds.

Years of rivalry in this area have come to an end with the deal,

with Rangers escalating tensions by reducing Celtic’s Old Firm ticket allocation in 2018.

As a result of that circumstance, away fans are no longer permitted into either stadium,

which has negatively impacted the fixture’s reputation among many.

James Bisgrove, though, has squashed any idea from the Celtic side that Rangers may raise their allocation any further,

given that all of that is set to alter next season.

Rangers “satisfied” with Old Firm allocation agreement

You may recall Celtic commentators calling the Rangers deal “a step in the right direction” at the time of the announcement.

This served as a comforting salve for the Celtic people’s agony over having to back down from their initial demands for a return to the earlier Broomloan allotment (7000).

Even Celtic’s manager, Brendan Rodgers, parroted the Northern Irishman,

saying he’s still waiting for Rangers to provide his team more shorts.

Even if the Parkhead side was given about 2500 seats at Ibrox, it seems like there are still too few.

For everyone, this is very fantastic news, according to Rodgers.

“This club has definitely supported it for a number of years.

It’s due of the supporters and the fixture’s iconic quality.

Therefore, getting 2,500 fans into the stadium is crucial, and ideally that number will rise as well.

“The players on the field and the fans in the stands are what actually make the game,

especially in this particular fixture. Thus, this is quite exciting news that comes just in time.

James Bisgrove shoots down Celtic ticket hopes

James Bisgrove has learned the hard way about the complexities of the well-known rivalry between the Rangers and Celtics.

The group led by Bisgrove, the club’s former director of commercial affairs,

negotiated the infamous Sydney Super Cup friendly that never happened.

The Englishman earned a promotion to the top seat in the Ibrox executive team by bouncing back,

and the Rangers board is confident he has learned his lesson.

Speaking as a member of the Ibrox Fans’ Forum,

Bisgrove effectively encapsulated the feelings of Rangers supporters by giving them a forum to discuss their grievances with influential club figures.

Brendan Rodgers and Celtic may attempt to placate their supporters by releasing soundbites on the previous Old Firm ticket distribution.

However, Rangers and James Bisgrove are well aware that anyone who believes the Ibrox team will be handing up another seat to their Old Firm rivals at the renowned stadium is dreaming.

The remarks are from the Four Lads Had a Dream blog,

which summarized and discussed in detail the main issues of contention from the Ibrox supporters’ forum on their website.

“Starting in the upcoming season, the Old Firm allocation will be 5%,” stated Bisgrove.

The club believes that there need to be away supporters at all times. Zero could not make it work.

“After discussions with the League, Sky, and Police, a decision was made, and we are happy with the result.

“The fans’ unfortunate move is a result, but the main goal is to make sure they have a lot of options.”

It will benefit the spectacle, in my opinion.

However, we won’t ever go above 5%. We wouldn’t have been able to tolerate being forced to accept a larger number if we hadn’t engaged.”

The date of the season’s last Old Firm match, which will take place at Celtic Park without the presence of away supporters, was just revealed.
