£77m-rated Premier League star says he once ‘went to Sunderland’ on trial, but Black Cats turned him down

A Premier League player has now disclosed that he was turned down for a trial at Sunderland.

Top young players are being produced by Sunderland and their Academy of Light, and at a faster rate too.

Tom Watson appears to be the next rising talent to join the first team this season after players like Dan Neil, Anthony Patterson, Chris

Rigg, and others who came before him.

Under Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman, the club is firmly focused on youth recruiting,

development, and advancement.

Sunderland’s previous transfer approach was wildly inconsistent.

Seven years have passed since Sunderland played in the Premier League, and a lot has undoubtedly changed.

The Black Cats made wise purchases during their most recent Premier League campaign, investing nearly £20 million on Didier Ndong

and wisely on players like Paddy McNair and Papi Djilobodji.

Since then, Sunderland has returned to the Football League with its share of money, although they have done so on busts like Will Grigg.

Instead of making large purchases at this time, the Wearsiders aim to acquire younger players at lower costs in order to develop them into

important assets in the transfer market.

However, it appears that they once passed over a player who is currently valued at £77 million.

Ebere Eze joined Crystal Palace from QPR in 2020 for a reported fee of around £20million.

And in what is now his fourth season at Selhurst Park, Eze already has 107 Premier League

appearances to his name with 22 goals and 17 assists.

He was on hand to score the winning goal for Palace in their 1-0 win at Liverpool last weekend.

The 25-year-old was connected to Manchester City last month, and it’s said that the club

is willing to pay up to £77 million for the Englishman.

Additionally, Eze talked about his football career in a recent interview,

revealing that he was turned down by multiple organizations before being given a shot by QPR in 2016.

“I choose to support Arsenal.” I played there for maybe five years before being let go, then I spent around two and a half years at Fulham

before being let go again, then I spent half a year at Reading before being let go again. After that, I traveled to Millwall for my scholar,

where I stayed for two years before being released. went on trial for a few teams,

Jack Clarke is expected to make a significant profit for the team this summer and has the potential to succeed Eze at Palace.

Additionally, there appears to be a belief that, given the opportunity, a young Eze would be given a chance at Sunderland and most likely

make it into the first team.

The Black Cats must make sure they don’t let any more stars like Eze escape their control

and must do every effort to keep any stars they do find, like Rigg, for example.
