Rangers threw away the points against Ross County – Philippe Clement

Rangers’ title hopes took a blow as they suffered their first defeat against Ross County.

Rangers’ chances of winning the Premiership title were severely damaged when they lost to Ross County in a historic match,

as revealed by Philippe Clement, who claimed his half-time warning was ignored.

After fifteen minutes of play, Staggies captain Jack Baldwin scored an own goal.

Against a subpar Gers team, the home team had plenty of opportunities to score at least twice in the first half.

After that, County quickly took the lead thanks to goals from Simon Murray and George Harmon in the second half.

Josh Sims then added an incredible third goal, and the hosts held off a late penalty kick from Gers captain James Tavernier to win 3-2.

The Dingwall team had never beaten Rangers before, with four draws and twenty losses in their previous 24 encounters.

With a match remaining against Dundee on Wednesday, the outcome put the Light Blues four points behind champions Celtic,

while bottom-of-the-table County drew even with 10th-place St Johnstone heading into the half.

“We threw away the points today,” Clement remarked. In the first half,

we didn’t start off strong enough in the duels and with the ball.

“We had opportunities in the first half, some of them were obvious, but we weren’t deadly with them.

“You lead 1-0 at halftime and I told the players that the first half wasn’t good enough.

I wanted to see more in the second half and maintain the clean sheet, but

This makes it harder and gives the opposition more energy to throw their bodies in front of the ball all over the pitch in an attempt to force a decisive duel.

“I wanted to see that last 90 minutes, not 30 minutes,

because I could see the urgency in the last 30 minutes.

“Our defense played with far too many errors, which is unusual for our group.

We gave up some odd goals, and we didn’t take use of our opportunities to score more.
