News Update:Sunderland flopped striker to step up or face summer exit

Sunderland has struggled with strikers for the past almost two seasons. But lately, Jobe Bellingham has made those

problems go away.

Bellingham, who plays at the no. 9 place for Sunderland, has been a little revelation despite lacking the skill of a

striker like Ross Stewart.

This season, the 18-year-old has filled both deeper and more attacking midfield roles. He has also occasionally

played as the lone striker.

Bellingham has scored seven goals in 42 Championship games this season, which is more than the combined total of

three goals scored by Mason Burstow, Luis Hemir, and Nazariy Rusyn in the Championship.

Sunderland striker problems as reports of Nazariy Rusyn surface

As the summer transfer window approaches, Sunderland will be searching for new strikers once more.

According to Kristjaan Speakman, Sunderland cannot afford to neglect the clear need for a prolific striker in order to

bolster areas where they already have skill and depth.

And since recent internet rumors about Rusyn have surfaced, the necessity for a striker has grown even greater.

Rusyn is rumored to want to leave Sunderland this summer after a difficult first season in England, however this is highly speculative.

After that, Burstow will rejoin Chelsea, his parent club, leaving Hemir as the only recognized first-team striker.

Hemir, though, might see his name called into question during the summer transfer window.

Luis Hemir receives a severe warning from Jobe Bellingham

The fact that Bellingham moved up to the no. 9 place and changed the team’s trajectory must have given a clear

message to Hemir.

Hemir’s primary critique was his lack of work ethic; as the lone striker in a fast-paced, dynamic Sunderland team,

the striker needs to put in the hard work and work both behind the line of defense and down into the channels.

Hemir just didn’t do that; in the last third, Bellingham not only does that but also contributes a little bit of quality.
