Ibrox Latest: Rangers join race to sign £14m star, Ibrox chiefs wowed by his quick feet
If Rangers pull off another incredible title comeback and defeat Celtic to win the Scottish Premiership this year, they will be in a prime
position to add some much-needed reinforcements as the summer transfer window draws near.
Rangers transfer news
Barisic, John Lundstram, Leon Balogun, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, and Jon McLaughlin are scheduled
to leave the Rangers in free agency this summer when their contracts expire.
Rangers, with voids in their roster, have apparently focused on possible replacements for those scheduled departures. Arnaud Bodart, for
example, has been connected, while permanent deals for Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva may be in the works in the coming months.
Philippe Clement’s team, who could have to defend the Scottish title the following season,
would benefit from all three of the agreements.
One loan deal they are reportedly unlikely to turn permanent this summer is Abdallah Sima’s from Brighton & Hove Albion, however,
with the winger’s price more than what the Gers can likely afford amid interest from the Premier League. Creating the need for a
replacement, the Gers have turned their attention elsewhere.
Rangers have reportedly surpassed Atletico Madrid in their pursuit of Fluminense’s Jhon Arias, according to Christian Martin via Sport
Witness. The right winger’s fast feet are said to have amazed Ibrox authorities,
and they may now consider replacing Sima with him in the upcoming months.
There is no better moment than the present for Arias, who is 26 years old, to make a move, especially considering the caliber of clubs who
are interested. Rangers now need to secure Champions League football this season in order to pursue Arias, whose contract is rumored to
be worth approximately £14 million, given the opposition from Atletico Madrid.
Arias would be an instant upgrade on Wright
Rangers could have to settle for Scott Wright filling in for Sima permanently next season if they lose out on Arias, which would be a step
back. Arias, on the other hand, possesses every asset required to take the place of the Brighton player,
including speed, agility, and the capacity to work in confined places.
Rangers should therefore pursue this deal this summer in an effort to start their first full season under Clement on a high note. It is
imperative that Sima is replaced in the upcoming months because the Ibrox supporters will not want to remember Sima’s departure as a
turning point in the Belgian’s career.
The Gers must brutally replace the 26-year-old with Arias, who has more than proven his potential during his time in Brazil with
Fluminense, even if it means losing Wright in the process.
