Premier League relegation twist as Nottingham Forest’s points may change before season ends

Nottingham Forest may learn the decision of their appeal against the four-point deduction before the end of the Premier League season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team was fined four points last month for violating Profitability and Sustainability guidelines (PSR),

plunging them firmly into the relegation zone, where they currently lie only one point above the bottom three.

The club appealed the sentence, which is expected to take effect following next Sunday’s (April 21) crucial relegation match against Everton,

who had a 10-point deduction reduced to six on appeal earlier this year before being slammed with a second points deduction this season.

According to The Telegraph, Forest hopes to have their sentence lowered by at least one point,

but the Premier League faces a race against time to reach a decision before the season’s final day on May 19th.

Forest is not entitled to add fresh evidence at the appeal, but they remain dissatisfied with the earlier verdict.

They feel that Brennan Johnson’s £47.5million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur was basically ignored after his departure was delayed in order to collect a greater fee.

The appeal will be heard by a three-person independent commission, with a final decision due in early May.

It’s claimed the probability of their points deduction being enhanced is exceedingly distant.

Forest were held to a 2-2 tie on Saturday (April 13) at home against Wolves,

albeit the draw pushed them a point clear of Luton Town in 18th, who were pounded 5-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Tricky Trees welcome Manchester City and Chelsea to the City Ground following their visit to Goodison Park.

Potentially critical away trips to a doomed Sheffield United and Burnley,

who could already be relegated, on the last day cap off their season.
