Nottingham Forest’s appeal against a four-point deduction for breaking Premier League financial regulations is expected to be heard in the week beginning April 22.

Forest was fined £34.5 million in March for exceeding the profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR) limit of £61 million.

They immediately expressed their dissatisfaction with an independent commission’s decision,

with their argument centered on the sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham on the final day of the 2023 transfer window,

which occurred a little later than necessary.

They quickly confirmed their decision to appeal,

which will now be heard a week after they host Everton in a crucial Premier League game next Sunday.

The outcome is not expected right away, and with the Toffees also appealing their second points deduction of the season,

the relegation battle might be settled in the boardroom.

Forest will defend their case again, hoping that their penalty will be reviewed, allowing them breathing room at the bottom of the table.

They were relegated as a result of their deduction, but after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Wolves,

they moved one point ahead of Luton in 18th place.

Everton was originally deducted ten points the first time around,

but an appeal and subsequent second deduction resulted in them losing six points, while Forest lost four.

Sheffield United has received a two-point deduction for the following season they are an EFL club,

which appears to be as soon as next term considering their current position at the bottom of the Premier League table.
