Sporting KC typically holds its home games at Children’s Mercy Park, which has a maximum

capacity of 21,500 spectators. But because of all the excitement that surrounded Messi’s visit in

Kansas City,

the team decided to transfer their matchup against Inter Miami to Arrowhead,

a much larger stadium with over 76,000 seats.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid were present.

The famous signal-caller welcomed Messi in the players tunnel just before he took the pitch

and gave him a few words of encouragement: “Good luck man, have fun out there.”

As anticipated, Messi brought in a record-breaking attendance on Saturday, with reports of over 70,000 supporters lining the stands. Even though Miami was playing in Kansas City, the majority of spectators appeared to be cheering for Miami, as evidenced by Messi’s spectacular second-half goal.

Messi made an immediate impression on the legendary NFL stadium. The 36-year-old set up his teammate’s game-tying goal just before the eighteenth minute with a brilliant pass to Diego Gomez that split two defenders.

Afterward, Messi dribbled into a defensive crease in the 51st minute and blasted a laser.

Inter Miami took a 2-1 lead when his shot swiftly struck the back of the net, rising just above Sporting KC goalie Tim Melia’s outstretched hand.
