After the most recent postponement, Peter Martin has chastised the SPFL for failing to get charge of the Dundee and

Rangers fixture dispute right away.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer on Friday, April 12, the host stated that the game should not have been in The Dee’s hands

and that Dens Park should be the venue of choice.

In response to those allegations, Alan Rough acknowledged that no one in a position of responsibility makes the “big

decisions” when they arise and said that since the clubs will only “look after themselves,” someone in a position of

authority needs to inform everyone of what is going on.

“First and foremost, I believe that the SPFL ought to have taken control of the game from Dundee and decided that it

would be played somewhere else because they required certainty regarding the fixtures prior to the split,” Martin

stated.

“That’s a typical example of what’s been happening whenever significant decisions need to be made,” Rough

remarked. Nobody at the top of the tree is in charge of notifying the teams, “This is what’s happening, this is what

we’re doing,” or making those decisions.
“If you let the teams handle things, they all take care of themselves these days. Given that they have upcoming games

that may impact both of them, it seems to reason that Rangers and Dundee want to play there. Someone in a position

of authority must declare, “This is what’s happening.”

The Rangers and Dundee saga must be addressed by the SPFL.

This issue should have been easily averted, and the way it has developed over the last few days has been completely

absurd.

Many people knew at the beginning of the week that the pitch condition and the unfavorable weather prediction

might prevent the game from taking place at Dens Park.

However, it wasn’t until late on Wednesday, April 10, that the decision was made to reschedule the game for a second

time in a short period of time.

It would now merely make sense to play the game in a neutral location to ensure it can proceed before the split,

even if there has been a great deal of discussion since then regarding where and when it will be played.

Given how much is at stake, this whole issue has been somewhat embarrassing for Scottish football. These kinds of

incidents really shouldn’t be occurring at this level.
