Chelsea is expected to receive a big £28 million kickback from Newcastle after their 4-0 success against Totteham on

Saturday afternoon. The Magpies’ victory ensures that they cannot finish lower than 14th in the Premier League

forcing them to sign loanee Lewis Hall longer-term.

At St. James’ Park on Saturday, Alexander Isak set the tone by scoring the first goal after 30 minutes.

Two minutes later, Anthony Gordon doubled the score by taking advantage of a Pedro Porro error and shooting past

Guglielmo Vicario.

The win puts Newcastle in sixth place in the Premier League and strengthens their chances of qualifying for Europe.

It also means that the Magpies cannot finish lower than 14th in the table, which implies that Eddie Howe’s team will

now sign Hall from Chelsea as the loan-to-buy deal’s requirements have been met. Isak then scored his second goal

in the 52nd minute, and Fabian Schar added the cherry on top with a towering header late in the game.

Newcastle included a buyout clause in the agreement that would have allowed them to sign Hall permanently for £28

million, provided they did not position in the bottom six. This will give Chelsea much-needed cash going into the

summer transfer season.

Since joining the Toon Army, the adaptable defender has played in 12 league games, starting just three of them.

The higher powers at Stamford Bridge were prepared to let go of the adolescent since, come summer, he will only

represent profit on their bank sheets. They had already expressed concerns about how they would handle any

problems arising from the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Having replaced Harvey Barnes in the 88th minute of Newcastle’s match against Spurs,

it is unclear if Hall will play a part in the team’s remaining games. Although the playmaker was used on the left flank,

he can also play left back and central midfield when needed.
