CHIEFS LATEST: Travis Kelce speaks on leaving kansas city chiefs.

Star tight end Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs has stated that he

is thinking about leaving the NFL “more than anyone could ever imagine” due to the physical toll the game has had on his body.

After being unable to participate in just one game during his rookie campaign in 2013,

the 34-year-old has missed just four out of a potential 155 regular-season games; of them,

just one was clearly due to an injury.

He was benched by Kansas City in the final week of the regular season twice,

and in 2021 he spent one week on the reserve/Covid-19 list.

He was out for a portion of the Chiefs’ Week Five victory over the Minnesota Vikings due to an ankle injury,

and he also missed the team’s season-opening defeat to the Detroit Lions this year due to hyperextending his knee.

But in his ten-year NFL career, Kelce has had almost twelve surgeries despite displaying such resilience.

He stated: “The only thing I’ve never really been open about is the discomfort,

the pain, and the lingering injuries” in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

“The 10 surgeries I’ve had… I still feel every single surgery to this day.”

“He has phenomenal pain tolerance,” Tom Melvin, the tight ends coach for the Chiefs, said of Kelce.

“He has persevered through situations that other athletes I have coached over the years have not been able to.” Extremely strong mental attributes.”

Kelce presently has a $14 million per year contract with the Chiefs through 2026. At that point, he would be 37 years old and an unrestricted free agent.

He has eight Pro Bowl appearances, four first-team All-Pro selections, and two Super Bowl victories with Kansas City.

A lock to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, Kelce’s notoriety outside of the NFL has surged this season because of his romance with Taylor Swift, the pop sensation.
