There are six players out of contract this summer, with up to ten potentially going if the Gers manager wants to trim his group.

So far, only John Lundstram is claimed to have been offered a new deal,

and Philippe Clement appears to have informed one Rangers star that he is free to leave,

according to a new transfer report by Pete O’Rourke, previously of Sky Sports.

Rangers give Kemar Roofe exit green light in the Philippe Clement cull.

The forward line will be an interesting subject for the manager to handle.

The other is Kemar Roofe, who, according to O’Rourke,

has been connected with four southern teams: Fulham, Sheffield United, Southampton, and QPR.

There is no doubt that Kemar Roofe has the capacity to score goals for any of these clubs,

but we all know what his problem is, as Philippe Clement recently acknowledged when asked why the striker was not in Rangers’ roster.

“Kemar is improving, but he has come a long way. There is competition now.

“There are other players, so it’s about him giving his all, which he’s been doing in training, and upping his game.

“Roofe comes from a long way away because he hasn’t played many minutes this season.

“Physically, he is close to 90 minutes, but he faces competition from others.

That way, it’s a good thing. I’m starting to get headaches again from making decisions.”

Can Kemar Roofe recapture his title-winning Rangers form?

On a free transfer, you can understand why someone would take a chance on a one-year contract for a player who cost us an estimated £4.5 million.

It’s a low-risk investment, and if you can get 30 games out of him, you know he’ll score double figures.

There is only one problem: he has only played more than 30 games in his first two seasons,

with his minutes decreasing year after year; age does not improve an athlete’s resilience to injury.

Roofe would most likely leap at the opportunity to play for a Premier League club,

and Fulham could be the only one of the four mentioned in England’s top tier next season.

It would also reunite him with Calvin Bassey, a fellow Europa League finalist.

At a reported £26,000 a week, that’s a lot of money over the last two seasons – more than £2.5 million –

for fewer than 10 games’ worth of minutes and approximately £5 million for 38 goals.
