Micah Richards has questioned why James Tavernier would want to leave Rangers,

following recent rumors linking him to a transfer away from Ibrox.

The former Manchester City defender insisted that being a Rangers icon is worth more than moving to the Premier League or even the Championship, and that quitting would be worthless.

Tavernier had been connected with a move to Saudi Arabia, where he would join Steven Gerrard’s team Al-Ettifaq,

as well as to the Premier League.

Richards stated on the BBC Monday Night Club: “It’s where you’re happy, isn’t it?”

Obviously, he has played in England, on loan, and at Newcastle.

I believe he wasn’t receiving affection when he went to these places.

“It’s all about the feeling, isn’t it?” Rangers and Celtic are huge clubs.

And if you know you can be the greatest player every week while captaining a large club,

Alternatively, you may go to the Premier League and not settle, potentially relegating to the Championship; I’d rather be with Rangers.

“He knows exactly what he will receive. He’s a Rangers legend. This is exactly what we’re talking about.

When you look back, you can say, ‘I’m a Rangers legend,‘ and that must mean something.”

Micah Richards responds to Rangers’ James Tavernier’s transfer announcement.

Richards’ claim is true; why would he want to leave Rangers and everything it means?

where he has the captaincy and the support of the fans to move to  a club which may prove more lucrative but without that attachment?

Jeff Stelling, meanwhile, said that his age would preclude him from joining a Premier League squad.

Despite his impressive achievements at Ibrox, particularly his most recent “astonishing” performance.

The captain was brilliant again as he led his side to a 3-1 victory over Hibernian at Ibrox.

after missed a penalty in the first half before putting his team ahead with a late run into the box.

With a vital encounter against Celtic coming up, Tavernier will be critical to any Rangers’ victory.

If they can earn all three points, they will be on course for another SPFL title, cementing his status as a legend.
