Key Ipswich Town player issues future update as contract runs down

Vaclav Hladky, the goalkeeper for Ipswich Town, has expressed his desire to remain with the team once this season

ends because his current deal is set to expire this summer.

Hladky came to Ipswich in the summer of 2021 from Salford City, a League Two team.

He saw his possibilities as restricted, thus at first he played second fiddle between the posts for the Tractor Boys.

But that’s not the case this season. The Czech has been a constant in goal for Kieran McKenna‘s team in the

Championship since Ipswich was promoted at the conclusion of the previous season.

Given that Hladky’s current contract at Portman Road is set to expire in the summer,

this has raised concerns regarding his future.

The 33-year-old appears to know exactly where he wants to be starting in the upcoming season, though.

Vaclav Hladky discusses the future of Ipswich Town.

Though some Tractor Boys fans might be worried about Hladky’s future,

it doesn’t seem like they have much cause to be at this point.

Although he hasn’t signed a new deal at Portman Road yet, the goalie has stated that he is eager to do so.

As his contract approaches its last few weeks, Hladky responded to a question on his future with Ipswich Town by

telling TWTD:

Really, I’m not sure. The only thing I know is that the contract hasn’t been signed yet. Another person can be

questioned.

“The main reason is that I want to stay here since it’s a big club and I enjoy coming here every day.

Without a doubt, I want to stay here. I’m hoping we can figure something out.

Naturally, the goalkeeper is not only juggling the possibility of a new agreement but also trying to lead Ipswich to a

second consecutive promotion this year.

Ipswich Town has a great chance to win the promotion battle.

With five games remaining in their regular season, the Tractor Boys are presently ranked third in the Championship

table.

But on Wednesday night, when they play Watford at Portman Road, that might all change.

With Leeds United and Sunderland drawing on Tuesday and Leicester City losing to Millwall,

an Ipswich victory over the Hornets would put the team at the top of the rankings,

three points clear of the play-off spots.

With just a few days left in the campaign, they might have a great chance of getting promoted if they could pull that

off.

Ipswich ought to pay attention to what Hladky has to say.

It goes without saying that Ipswich’s current priorities will mostly center on their fight to get promoted to the

Premier League.

That makes perfect sense, considering the stakes involved.

That does not, however, imply that they should disregard Hladky’s remarks either.
