There are Goliath visits to Dens Park planned prior of the scheduled 8pm kickoff,

so you can be confident that the Gers have support from all corners of the globe.

However, what is the rough estimate for Dundee’s surface, and when can Rangers

supporters anticipate official word?

Here’s what we now know about Rangers’ chances of playing their Scottish Premiership

match against Dundee on the subpar Dens Park pitch.

Dundee v Rangers in jeopardy: here’s the latest on Dens Park pitch fiasco

So let’s start from the beginning again.

Prior to Sunday’s Old Firm match, Rangers’ pre-international break trip to Dundee was

rescheduled in March, causing some confusion with the broadcasters.

Rangers had led the Scottish Premiership by two points, but Celtic had a lead to protect

going into Ibrox this weekend due to the postponement of the Dundee match,

which was the fourth postponement at Dens Park this season.

Rangers obviously want to get back on top after a 3-3 draw, but Dundee’s field presents another challenge because Sky Sports also wants to broadcast the match.

Dundee has been spinning the situation because the Met Office is predicting a lot of rain,

but it’s obvious that there might be some significant obstacles to putting the game on.

This comes after Motherwell, who overcame the Dee 3-2 at the weekend thanks to a last-minute comeback, was hosted by Dundee’s cabbage patch.

“The pitch didn’t look pretty, but it played well (against Motherwell),” stated John Nelms, managing director of Dundee.

“We have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that the field is suitable for play, and as of right now,

we have addressed all areas of concern that have been raised since yesterday.”

What are Rangers saying?

The Rangers manager, Philippe Clement, expressed his dissatisfaction with the Dundee pitch issue rather candidly.

The Belgian says that the high level of tin-pottery in Scottish football as a whole is unworthy of a top flight club, and he makes this argument often.

Even though the Rangers manager and his group went to a hotel last night, Big Phil isn’t overly fond of the circumstances.

“It’s a crazy situation to go in a top league that you don’t know the day before and we’re going to travel there and stay there in a hotel and you don’t know if the game is on tomorrow or not,”

Philippe Clement remarked. “We’re going to travel there and we’re going to stay there in a hotel.”

That’s a rather strange circumstance, then. Okay, it can occur in exceptional cases,

but I don’t believe it has occurred in any of the elite leagues in the last few years.

“However, there are issues whenever it rains in Scotland these days,

even though there are typically plenty of sunny days there. This is bad news for the league and for Dundee as well.”
