Danny Rohl has been connected to the Black Cats position, although he might choose to decline it in light of newly

discovered information.

While the Owls have had some very severe losses under his leadership—their embarrassing 6-0 loss to Ipswich Town

sticks out as one particularly memorable game—they have also managed to achieve some positive outcomes.

He has benefited by the dismal record of his predecessor at South Yorkshire, when Xisco Munoz won only one of his

ten league games in command.

However, Rohl deserves credit for giving Wednesday a chance to escape the bottom three,

since the team is currently very much in the running to make it through.

It might not be long before another team tries to sign the former Bayern Munich coach if he can lead the Owls to

survival.

His relocation from Hillsborough has previously been mentioned, with reports indicating that Sunderland is

interested in signing him.

If Rohl can maintain his current level of performance, more and more teams will be linked to him in the upcoming

months. Dejphon Chansiri must thus make every effort to secure Rohl’s stay in South Yorkshire for the foreseeable

future.

The owner of the Owls won’t find it simple, though.

As previously said, the 34-year-old is reportedly a top target for the Black Cats.

That the Wearside team is pursuing a young manager is hardly surprising given their youthful and inexperienced roster.

Alan Nixon says Paul Heckingbottom is also on their radar, but if he accepts the top spot,

he might only be able to bring one staff member to the Stadium of Light.

Rohl might experience the same difficulties as Heckingbottom if owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is unwilling to make the

investment in a larger backstage staff, as Michael Beale did.

If Rohl were to accept the position, he would want to bring his own employees to Wearside, albeit he might not be able to bring as many as he would like.

Danny Rohl might reject Sunderland.
It wouldn’t be shocking if Rohl turned down a job offer if one was made.

The reason for this is that he might not be able to bring every employee he desires to the SoL.

The Wednesday boss needs people around him that he can trust because, as his troubles have shown, this won’t be an easy job if he takes on the top job on Wearside.

Not only is the upcoming season vital for the Black Cats as they attempt to keep improving in anticipation of a

possible return to the top division, but if Rohl takes this route, it may also be a huge season for him.

Having fresh employees around him in a new environment would be risky for a 34-year-old manager who needs to

create a good impression in the early going of his managing career in order to receive more possibilities later on.

Even though he will have the entire preseason to get to know Dodds and the other Black Cats coaches,

there’s no assurance he can work well with them to bring out the best in Sunderland.

Two concerns for Rohl are this and the Black Cats’ inability to secure a much-needed striker addition in January.

Until he has the chance to appoint his own backroom staff, staying at Hillsborough would probably be a preferable course of action at this point.

Beale’s difficulties serve as another evidence that, despite the Black Cats’ talented team, no manager can be sure of success on Wearside.
