Celtic No1 summer signing priority revealed – As player already agrees personal terms with Hoops

According to Football Insider, Celtic’s first priority in the summer transfer window is to sign a goalkeeper.

The position is the club’s top priority, since incumbent number one Joe Hart will leave at the end of the season.

This season, the 36-year-old has made 41 appearances in all competitions. His contract will expire this summer.

There are no plans to improve with colleagues Celtic Park shot-stoppers Scott Bain or Benjamin Siegrist.

Celtic’s summer transfer window priority

Despite the 32-year-old’s contract expiring in 2026, the Bhoys are open to receiving proposals for him this summer.

He has appeared in just one Celtic squad this season, while fellow 32-year-old Bain has made only two appearances.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has leaned heavily on Hart this season,

with the veteran goalkeeper playing more minutes than anybody else at the club.

However, sources told Football Insider in January that the Bhoys will replace Hart as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper this summer.

He has played an important role in the Glasgow club’s excellent Scottish Premiership performance, which has put them at the top of the table.

Rodgers’ side leads Rangers by one point following a thrilling 3-3 draw at Ibrox on Sunday (7 April).

Philippe Clement’s side does, however, have a game in hand on their Glasgow opponents, although the Bhoys have a stronger goal difference.

Both clubs are out of European competitions, but they remain in the Scottish Cup, with Celtic meeting Aberdeen and Rangers facing Hearts in the semi-finals.

Hampden Park will host both games, resulting in another Glasgow derby and the final Old Firm league encounter after the fixture split.
