This afternoon, as the fight for the Scottish Premiership title heats up, Rangers takes on fierce rivals Celtic in the Old Firm.

With a game in hand for the Gers, the two Glasgow teams are separated by just one point going into the derby at Ibrox.

Although Brendan Rodgers’ team currently has the upper hand, a loss to their opponents will take the title race out of their hands.

Although Philippe Clement is aware that victory puts his team in control, losing to the Hoops would make it extremely difficult to unseat them from the top spot.

Rangers vs Celtic: Old Firm record

This weekend’s matchup between Rangers and Celtic will be the first Old Firm match of 2024.

In their most recent encounter, which took place on December 30, the Celtic prevailed 2-1.

Rodgers’ team had won six of the previous ten derbies in all competitions.

Since then, Rangers have only triumphed once, defeating Celtic in May of last year.

Clement’s team lost 1-0 at Ibrox earlier in the season, so on Sunday afternoon they will be looking for retribution.

Given how closely both sides are competing for the championship, this matchup is maybe one of the most significant Old Firm matches in recent memory.

Rangers vs Celtic: What has been said?

WWE superstar and Rangers supporter Drew McIntyre thinks his team will “smash” Celtic this weekend in an intriguing sports crossover.

“We’ve got the momentum right now, and we’re going to crush them in the Old Firm game,” McIntyre declared on U105 radio.

We’ve been on fire lately, but I’m hearing all the excuses about what’s going on, mostly from family members who support the Celtics.

After much searching, we’ve finally located a keeper in Butland who can take McGregor’s place.

“While it’s disappointing that we didn’t advance in the Europa League, I’m going to hang my hat on the fact that there wasn’t a penalty in the first leg against Benfica!

“But league wise, it belongs to us. This is Rangers’ season. As I say, we’re on fire, we’ve got the momentum. We’ve got the game in hand.

“We’re going to get to the top of the league, then we’re going to smash Celtic and I’m going to win the world title.

“It’s meant to be.”
