Rangers and Celtic are both interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Fabio Silva on loan during the January transfer window, TEAMtalk has learned.

Silva’s Anderlecht loan was then annulled on January 24, allowing him to sign with PSV the next day.

He also impressed under former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, scoring five goals and assisting twice in 19 games.

PSV even expressed an intention to keep the 21-year-old for another year,

but their intentions changed when Van Nistelrooy resigned as manager in May.Wolves striker Fabio Silva is a target for Rangers and Celtic

Silva returned to Wolves over the summer, hoping to finally make an impact on the club following two confidence-boosting spells away from Molineux.

However, the attacker has failed to establish himself as a starter under manager Gary O’Neil,

with the majority of his 10 games coming from the bench.

Silva is once again struggling in front of goal, having only scored once in the previous ten games.

According to reports out of Portugal on Thursday, Silva may be on the move again in January.

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that this is the true, with Rangers and Celtic emerging as serious contenders to sign him on loan.

The Portugal U21 international has expressed a desire to play more often so that he can continue to improve,

as he did at Anderlecht and subsequently PSV.

He understands how difficult it will be to start up front on a regular basis ahead of Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan,

especially since O’Neil can also use Sasa Kalajdzic at centre-forward.

Wolves are open to negotiating a temporary move with both Rangers and Celtic.

However, they want a chunk of Silva’s rumored £80,000-per-week salary to be reimbursed as part of the loan deal.

Silva wants to play in the Premier League, but given the stature of the clubs involved, he would likely settle for Rangers or Celtic.

If the teenager joins Rangers or Celtic, Wolves will be hoping he can score goals and prove his worth.

They shattered their transfer record by spending £35.6 million to sign Silva from Porto when he was only 18 years old,

but we’ve only seen glimpses of his full brilliance since then.
