And Additional Self-Destructive Conspiracy Theories

FRISCO-With a contract extension on the horizon that might make him the highest-

paid defensive player in NFL history, Micah Parsons, a young,

perennial finalist for Defensive Player of the Year, is probably the best player on the Dallas Cowboys roster.

So why are we hearing negative things about him here in The Star?

The ugliest idea holds that the Cowboys are planning to ruin Parsons’ reputation

in order to hide the true cost of the contract.

This most recent wave of suspicion—yes, it has happened before—

comes after a report from 105.3 The Fan that some employees at

The Star are whispering that Parsons’ actions have “worn thin”

and that some of his supervisors and coworkers will “smiling or breathing a sigh of relief”

upon his departure.

Dallas Cowboys Charged with Anti-Micah Parsons Information Leaks,

But Why? Ask Dez Bryant, CeeDee Lamb, and Dak Prescott.

Apart from the hypocrisy, there’s also this accusing hypothesis that has merit

because it’s being announced by none other than Cowboys former player Dez Bryant.

Bryant addressed Parsons directly on Twitter, writing,

“This is what happens whenever it’s time to get paid. S—, I know how this goes.”

What is the outcome? Should one decide to embrace the prospect of what Bryant terms a “smear” campaign, they should think back to a few weeks ago when Dak Prescott—

who is also eligible for a costly extension—was featured in the

headline of a local newspaper article that disparaged him based on his disappointing playoff performance,

drawing comparisons to players such as Blake Bortles, Case Keenum, and Ryan Tannehill.

That sounded like a lie spread by the group to achieve something else besides compensating Prescott.

Now that Parsons’ name is in the press, it’s not because the media source made a mistake;

that’s just part of their job description. The Cowboys themselves make the mistake:

“Way too many people” are making this claim. Shan Shariff of The Fan stated,

“I’m talking about at least four different people (who have told me) that Micah has worn thin there.”

And to the main issues, if the allegation of a conspiracy involving a contract is to be believed:

the inexperienced, clumsy, and antiquated “keep-the-cost-down” tactic is ineffective,

and it certainly doesn’t help Prescott, Lamb, or Parsons’ mindset

(or perhaps even their desire to play in Dallas) to be discussed in this manner…
