The two starting lineup adjustments that Rangers manager Philippe Clement should make, according to Barry

Ferguson, are known ahead of the team’s April 7 Old Firm derby matchup at Ibrox against Celtic.

The former captain of the Gers is optimistic that, if both players are healthy enough, Ridvan Yilmaz and Dujon

Sterling would start the game instead of Borna Barisic and Scott Wright.

Yilmaz had an injury while playing for Turkey’s national team, therefore he was unable to participate in the team’s

most recent 3-1 victory over Hibernian. Sterling returned from the sidelines to assist on the third goal in that match.

Ferguson outlined his preferred starting lineup for the derby in a piece for the Daily Record, saying, “As a matter of

fact, I’ve already picked my starting XI for Sunday, assuming that they’re all fit and ready.” James Tavernier, Connor

Goldson, John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz, and Jack Butland in goal.

“John Lundstram and Mohamed Diomande at the heart of midfield with Dujon Sterling, Todd Cantwell and Fabio

Silva behind Cyriel Dessers who might just have a big moment in him this weekend

after working so hard to win over the supporters.”

In what may be a title-deciding Old Firm game, Rangers would benefit greatly from the skills that both Yilmaz and Sterling bring.

This season, Yilmaz, 22, has established himself as the Gers’ first-choice left-back over the seasoned Barisic—no

small accomplishment considering the Croatian veteran’s accomplishments at Ibrox.

It is on the right wing that he has been used most recently – and where Ferguson would like to see him start.

In addition to possessing the offensive flair to threaten on the other end—he scored his team’s second goal in the 2-2

draw away at Benfica in their Europa League first-leg match—Sterling’s defensive discipline would be a valuable

asset in such a big game.

Rangers’ prospects of securing a potentially season-defining victory at Ibrox will undoubtedly increase if the two can

convince Clement of their fitness and earn starting against Celtic.

Dave King has made conjectures regarding the potential for “net new investment” at Ibrox in other Rangers news.
