When asked about Mike McCarthy’s future as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott responded in an unexpected way.

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys failed once more in their attempt to win the Super Bowl. Almost no one anticipated to lose 48-32 at home to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.

For the first time in NFL history, a No. 7 seed defeated a No. 2 seed in the playoffs. That is why head coach Mike McCarthy has been singled out as the primary cause of such a disaster.

Now, the Dallas Cowboys’ future is completely uncertain. Bill Belichick has unexpectedly emerged as a strong candidate to succeed McCarthy, and no one knows for certain whether Prescott will receive a large contract extension in the NFL.

Despite the criticism, the quarterback confronted the media and risked his job to protect Mike McCarthy. An astonishing message that could have major ramifications for the team’s owner, Jerry Jones.

Is Jerry Jones keeping Dak Prescott with the Dallas Cowboys?

In the post-game press conference, Dak Prescott was asked about Mike McCarthy’s future with the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback added that if the head coach is fired, he will have to quit as well.

“He’s been amazing (Mike McCarthy). I don’t know how there can be (speculation), but I understand the business. In that case, it should be about me as well honestly. I mean, that guy, I’ve had the season that I’ve had because of him. This team’s had the success that they’ve had because of him.”

Prescott went on to say that if McCarthy is going to be evaluated for not winning the Super Bowl, then the same standard should be applied to him as the franchise quarterback.

“I understand it’s about winning the Super Bowl. That’s the standard of the league and the standard of this place. So I get it, but, add me to the list in that case.”
