Since Steven Schumacher left for Stoke City in early January, the Championship team has been led by the former England Under-20s manager.

Argyle had won just one of their 11 Championship games during the previous two months, following a strong start to the season.

Due to their poor play, Argyle is now one spot and one point off of the relegation zone.

For the balance of the season, the squad will be led by first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell and director of football Neil Dewsnip.Stadium of Light

Simon Ireland, the first-team coach, and Daryl Flahavan, the goalkeeping coach, who joined the squad under Foster, will continue in their positions.

“Ian was hired through a thorough and extensive recruitment process and his coaching credentials really stood out when making the appointment,” CEO

“However, we must weigh short-term decisions against long-term stability, and we have given Ian as much time as possible to evaluate if the outcomes could improve.

“Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case, and we feel now is the right time to make a change to give us the best chance of securing survival.

“Easter Monday’s 1-0 loss to Bristol City at Home Park marked Argyle’s fifth straight home game without a goal;

in two of those contests, they failed to muster a shot on goal, prompting calls for Foster’s dismissal from some supporters.

Foster took over at Argyle after serving as Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.

He led Argyle to wins over Sutton United in the FA Cup and league victories over Cardiff City and Swansea City.

However, after losing in extra time in an FA Cup fourth-round replay against Leeds United, a 2-0 victory at Middlesbrough,

and two draws were the only results under his tenure.
