Ally McCoist worries that during the Old Firm Derby,

he and 48,000 other Rangers supporters would be subject to the divisive new Scottish hate crime laws.

In the Scottish Premiership, The Gers host Celtic in a game that might decide the entire season.

If Philippe Clement’s team wins the three points at Ibrox, they will pass the Bhoys.

The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021,

which created a new crime of “stirring up hatred relating to age,

disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity,

or being intersex,” was passed just a few days before the two groups of fans spat vitriol at one another.

McCoist chuckled as the game approached,

pointing out that if the police were supposed to enforce it, they would be very busy at the stadium.

The former Rangers manager told TalkSPORT,

“We have a hate bill, by the way, a hate bill has been passed in the country.”

“I can assure you that when we all go to the Rangers vs Celtics game next Sunday at Ibrox,

myself and 48,000 other people will be breaking that hate bill.”

The Scottish government has only recently ratified the bill, which was first drafted in 2021.

Many people on both sides of the border have expressed their disapproval,

claiming that it will be nearly impossible for the police to enforce.

In response to a question concerning the law’s enforceability, McCoist stated,

“It is madness.” That’s precisely how the police see it.

That’s what the police spokesperson has essentially stated in public.

“It goes without saying that he can’t because he will get into trouble.

He’s hinted at the fact that everyone with two brain cells in their head understands that it’s completely insane.
