Hoops are ahead of most Premier League clubs in terms of commercial revenue, having generated £46 million in 2023.

That is according to finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the latest data show the Glasgow giants are a “huge brand”.

According to the Uefa Club Finance and Investment Landscape study, Celtic made £46 million in commercial revenue last year.

That sum places the Hoops 20th in European football for commercial income, the highest in Scotland and the sixth highest in the UK; Chelsea are likely to knock them down the list when their full accounts are released.

According to Football Insider, Celtic defied expectations with its 2023 finances, with revenue exceeding all estimates.

Celtic top of Premier League’s ‘Other 14’ following £46 million revelation.

Maguire feels Celtic’s economics are “sensational,” but cautions that revenue is also driven by fans.

“A commercial revenue of £46million is sensational,” Maguire told Sean Fisher of Football Insider.

“It certainly puts them in contention with the other 14 Premier League clubs.

“A word of caution: commercial income include product sales, to which fans contribute significantly.

“But the total stats show that Celtic are a huge brand in their own right, and they are appealing to sponsors, especially if they are qualifying for senior European competitions.“
