It doesn’t get much bigger than this for Rangers duo Mohamed Diomande and Fabio Silva’s Old Firm debuts.

This next match against Celtic will be Rangers’ first experience playing in the renowned derby. Oscar Cortes, who

was injured, completed the trio of additions signed by the team in the January transfer window.

However, with the momentum for the Scottish Premiership title very much in play at Ibrox this weekend, the stakes could not be higher.

With the new season just around the corner, Rangers could gain a five-point lead by defeating Celtic and then Dundee.

In one way or another, Rangers’ ability to meet that task is likely to depend heavily

on both of the club’s Old Firm debutants.

Fabio Silva ready for Old Firm debut

Fabio Silva, who joined Glasgow on loan from Wolves in January, has been settling in somewhat.

Although we’ve only seen glimpses of the £35 million player—who joined Rangers from FC Porto in 2020—the

striker has made it known how much he enjoys his time at the Molineux.

Fabio has also left a lasting, if not revolutionary, influence.

A tireless forward who shows touches and moments of genuine quality, hesitancy in front of goal and indecisiveness

in the final third are the areas of his game Silva needs to sharpen.

But as the forward’s goals on Portugal U21 duty prove, there’s talent there and let’s hope it’s an Old Firm debut to remember for the hitman.

Mohamed Diomande key for Rangers v Celtic

With Rangers placing more emphasis on player trades in the transfer window, Mohamed Diomande is fast becoming the team’s poster child.

The Ibrox team wants to be known as an important stage in the advancement of players in their early 20s who have unrealized potential.

Mohamed Diomande – who has just spent four years in Denmark – was ready to take the next step in his career and

he had a number of options on the table.

Thanks in part to Diomande’s childhood love of the team’s colors, Rangers were able to persuade the Ivorian Right to

Dream Academy graduate, and the midfielder has since made a significant impact.

Now that everything is put up, the child may go and make an impression on Celtic as well.

In January, Mohamed Diomande agreed to join Rangers on a loan-to-buy agreement for £4.5 million,

leaving FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.
