Prior to the summer transfer season, Trai Hume is rumored to be on the shortlists of several teams.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that Sunderland full-back Trai Hume has “admirers” such as Leeds United and Leicester City.

The young player for the Black Cats has had a great season, becoming an important part of his team’s success last

season and even managing to score a goal against Luton Town in the play-off semifinal.

Although the Wearside team ultimately failed to gain promotion, Hume has kept up his excellent play and is

currently drawing a lot of attention.

Being able to establish himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet and play a major role under Tony

Mowbray, Michael Beale, and Mike Dodds this term is a great accomplishment for him and further evidence of the

high regard in which he is held at the Stadium of Light.

However, given that the Black Cats are not expected to make the playoffs at the end of the season,

he might be leaving the team, much as several others have, like Jack Clarke.

His current contract, which he signed back in the summer, doesn’t expire until the summer of 2027.

The club also has the option to give him an additional year to continue on Wearside.

Five teams are reportedly interested in right-back Hume, including Leeds,

who will require a right-back in the summer when Connor Roberts returns to Burnley.

It will take competition for Archie Gray to succeed him, since Djed Spence also left in January,

ending his loan period, and Luke Ayling is expected to leave this summer.

Leicester is rumored to be interested in him as well,

since the Foxes don’t have many options at right-back and Hamza Choudhury occasionally seems exposed in this role.

The other teams rumored to be fans of the Northern Irishman include Serie A team Napoli,

Premier League teams Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth.

They must take a firm stand on the Black Cats’ outstanding player and refuse to let him go easy,

even though their business plan is probably built on selling players for a large profit, which is what they appear to be doing with Hume.

The only way the team can hope to succeed in the long run is if they can retain the nucleus of the squad.
