The Chelsea star and Tottenham agreed to personal terms as the Boehly era comes to an end.

Conor Gallagher, the top target for Tottenham, and captain Reece James of Chelsea are “preparing to sell” each other after an incriminating report revealed how the Todd Boehly period has reached unprecedented lows.

Since Boehly and his Clearlake partners succeeded Roman Abramovich at Stamford Bridge,

the Blues have lavished large sums of money on new players. Their on-field performance,

however, has not yet matched their off-field aspirations;

the cruel 2-2 draw against Burnley at home on Saturday perfectly encapsulated the new Chelsea.

Cole Palmer gave Mauricio Pochettino’s team the lead right away.

Few would have expected Burnley, down to 10 men, to rally and earn a draw away from home.

In his post-match interview, Palmer was the lone new recruit to once again take a stand and not hold back when criticizing his teammates and the organization.

However, rumors suggest that the worst is still to come,

as a potential transfer restriction is being considered.

ICYMI: A stunning turn of events for Chelsea as Boehly concedes defeat and braces the team for the detrimental transfer ban;

two more penalties could follow

Chelsea has reportedly made a last-ditch effort to avoid penalties by listing homegrown players Reece James and Conor Gallagher for sale,

according to the Sunday Times.

According to them, the Blues are aware that they need to generate more than £100 million by June 30.

By using player sales, it would be guaranteed that the money raised will go into the accounts for the 2023–2024 season.

According to reports, Chelsea is worried that they can lose points for breaking the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations,

just like Everton and Nottingham Forest did.

Sales of homegrown talent are more profitable for the team because they show up as pure profit on the balance sheet.

The Sunday Times reports that James and Gallagher,

both 24, are free to depart in the end.
Chelsea placed price tags on Gallagher and James.

James’ season has once again been wrecked by injury,

and Chelsea has set a target price of £80 million for him.

TEAMtalk has learned that the Blues are willing to pay £40 million for Gallagher, but they value him at around £50 million.

Gallagher’s sale is more urgent than the other because his present deal expires in 2025—that is,

providing ongoing negotiations for a contract extension don’t result in a breakthrough.

As far as we know, Gallagher is looking for a pay raise to stay at Chelsea, possibly as high as £150,000 per week.

The club hasn’t yet indicated that it will abide by his requests.

Gallagher has played in every Premier League game this season,

so Pochettino would be devastated to lose the dynamic midfield player.

However, the Argentine has little control over the choice,

and Tottenham will try to take advantage of their London rival’s bad luck.
