The Brazilian striker, who cost £6 million and came from an Eredivisie team that had won the championship, was the largest documented expenditure made by the club while its finances were relaxed.

But things haven’t gone as planned for Scotland’s newest samba star since he arrived in Glasgow after a protracted stay in his now-adopted nation of the Netherlands.

An early bright start was ended by a soul-crushing facial fracture received when scoring against St Johnstone, and Rangers saw glimpses of Danilo’s vicious side before a knee injury against Hearts forced him out months later.

Now that the devoted Christian is speeding up his recuperation from surgery, we think he may become a future fan favorite for the Rangers.

Danilo builds hype ahead of Rangers injury return

The Brazilian has been steadily getting back into shape and has been posting updates on social media about his progress. He hasn’t been seen since that 1-0 victory over Hearts in December.

Rangers’ season has been marred by injuries, and none more so than the fact that their star summer acquisition has missed the majority of it due to injury.

Now, as this Ibrox super hero sets his eyes on a comeback, Danilo is igniting Rangers fans’ excitement on social media once more by sharing a bible verse and an image of himself wearing a protective mask.

“God can restore what is broken and change it into something amazing,” tweets Danilo. “All you need is faith. Joel 2:25.”

Brazilian striker can fire his way into Ibrox hearts

Before the summer transfer, images of caipirinhas and Brazilian flags hinted to the deal, indicating that former manager Michael Beale was quite happy about the acquisition.

However, following a shaky start to the season, Philippe Clement took over as manager of the Rangers, and now the team is firmly in the chase for an incredible treble.

Our arsenal will be further strengthened in the closing stages of the season if Danilo can make a late comeback in the latter stretch of the campaign, as Clement has already suggested.

More importantly, though, if Danilo can rejoin the club come campaign’s crucial conclusion, the Brazilian might earn more than just hardware by May.

The striker, who has maintained an inspiringly upbeat attitude during a challenging debut season, has the ideal opportunity to cement his legacy in Rangers’ hearts as well.

With the Rangers, Danilo has made 21 appearances (10 starts), contributing five assists and six goals.
