Confirmed: Todd Cantwell and key Rangers trio return in crucial game v Hibs

Todd Cantwell admits it was “unfortunate” to sustain an injury recently, but thinks he is now in a “good place” to play for the Rangers.

The Englishman said in the prematch press conference on Friday, March 29 that he is ready to face Hibs the following day, pointing out that Philippe Clement’s injury crisis demonstrates the importance of adaptability.

Cantwell came on as a late substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Benfica on March 14,

but was forced to miss the Scottish Cup triumph over this weekend’s opponents at Easter Road,

the first leg of the Europa League tie, and the three previous SPFL games due to a hamstring injury.

According to the club’s official Twitter account, Cantwell stated:

“Feeling fine, had an unfortunate injury but am in a good position now.

The fans are excited, and we know exactly what is available in the next weeks.

“We’ve had some terrible injuries, which demonstrates what the manager has had to cope with.

You must be able to play in a variety of positions; I believe this is increasingly crucial in football.”

Injuries have become the norm at Rangers in recent years, but this season has been particularly terrible.

Key attackers Danilo, Abdallah Sima, and Oscar Cortes have all been declared out indefinitely,

while Cantwell, Dujon Sterling, Ross McCausland, and Tom Lawrence, among others, have received smaller layoffs.

Ridvan Yilmaz developed an issue during the international break, which thankfully looks to have been minor.

But Clement needs all hands on deck for the SPFL title race, as well as the Scottish Cup semi-final and probable final.
