Rangers choose their appointment wisely as soon as an official statement is released.

Of all the significant appointments Rangers has made recently, Philippe Clement is undoubtedly the most noteworthy.

After succeeding Michael Beale earlier in the season, the Belgian has totally changed the atmosphere at Ibrox.

Under Clement, the Gers are in the latter stages of the Scottish Cup, having already won the League Cup. They are currently tied with Celtic, their bitter rivals, in the Scottish Premiership.

In the dugout, the manager is supported by a close-knit group of players, and the club has been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that the next generation of elite players continues to develop at the youth level.

Lewis Macleod, a former Gers midfielder who returned to Ibrox as an Academy coach, is the latest hire in this endeavor [official Rangers website, 25 March].

Rangers made a wise decision by inviting Lewis Macleod back to Ibrox.

Given that the coach is a graduate of the Light Blues youth program and is familiar with the club and system inside and out, it appears to be a wise decision on the part of the Scottish powerhouses.

At the age of ten, Macleod began his career at Ibrox and played a significant amount of time in the first team before having stints at Brentford, Wigan, and Plymouth. Unfortunately, an injury forced him to retire early.

He will benefit much from his time away from Scotland in his new position as well, since the coach has probably picked up a lot of knowledge from other teams.

Although the 29-year-old clearly still has a lot to learn, he already possesses a wealth of knowledge that he can impart to his new under-14 team on the field.
