Dai Yongge, the owner of Reading FC, has finally reached a deal to sell the club.

A recent fan protest took place at Reading’s Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Following confidential conversations between owner Dai Yongge and a potential buyer,

the sale of Reading FC has advanced to a closer stage.

In a statement on the subject, Reading FC stated that “Mr. Dai had committed to a letter of intent with a potential purchaser” on Tuesday.

The club will reveal the identity of the group or person behind the takeover after the sale,

which could take up to two months, is completed.

The full terms of the agreement,

which will include the transfer of Mr. Dai’s investment in Reading Football Club Limited,

the Select Car Leasing Stadium, and the Bearwood Park training facility,

are expected to be negotiated between the two sides during a period of “exclusive negotiation.”

When it is appropriate, the club will give more details about the agreement.

The announcement will come as a huge relief to Reading Supporters’ groups,

who have been pleading with Dai Yongge to sell the club as soon as possible in order to safeguard its long-term viability.

Wycombe Wanderers expressed interest in purchasing Reading’s Bearwood Park training facility earlier this month.

The Chairboys were eager to close a transaction and ensure that Reading could pay its debts and operational costs,

which included paying employees and players.

It was, however, shelved owing to “planning limitations,” which presumably restricted Bearwood Park’s use to Reading FC.

Reading Football Club received an immediate two-point punishment at the end of February due to their repeated failure to make payments to HMRC on time in 2023.

It came after the EFL Disciplinary Commission’s ruling on February 26.

A further suspended two-point penalty was also given to the club;

this penalty will be applied if there are any further late payments to HMRC or recognized football creditors this season.
