Over the past two seasons, Celtic’s actions in the transfer market have greatly irritated the fan base.

Celtic News: Transfer Update That Will Excite The Celtic Fans

Never mind; there have been countless success stories involving people like Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, and Kyogo Furuhashi.

However, Celtic consistently manage to find players such as Nat Phillips, Oliver Abildgaard, Yosuke Ideguchi, and Hyeokkyu Kwon for every one of those guys.

And Celtic’s player trading model and the market they operate in are to blame for that. It is beneficial and fantastic in some ways to not spend more than £3 million on a player.

But, as we have seen under Ange Postecoglou as well as this season, the quality isn’t the same as paying £6 million for a Jota or Cameron Carter-Vickers.

However, everything is scheduled to change this summer after what journalist, Mark Guidi, has been told.

Celtic intends to spend the summer

While acknowledging that there is still value at the lower end of the transfer market scale, Guidi said last night on Go Radio that he had heard that Celtic is set to enter the £6–£7 million player market this summer.

Guidi was speaking about Brendan Rodgers’ need to replace Joe Hart.

Guidi stated, “I’ve said many times,” on [The Go Radio Football Show. As I stated last season, Celtic should pursue a free transfer or a £1 million transfer fee with a great fat deal if they can locate a Jack Butland or Joe Hart situation.

But go ahead and spend the £6-7 million if that’s what’s necessary. I’ve also been informed that Celtic has returned to that market.

“The days of this £3 million, which was practically a ceiling, are gone. Celtic is very much back in the market at that level if players become available for £6 million to £7 million.

And that’s how things ought to be, especially for goalies.

The Celtics supporters will be ecstatic

The Celtics supporters will be ecstatic if this turns out to be true. We have seen project players join the team for far too long, and almost always, they end up failing or looking foolish in the Champions League.

The first team needs to be properly invested in in order to generate success, and it appears that Rodgers may soon add the quality he has been lusting for this season. Honestly, Celtic have the financial means to pull it off.

We previously lost the League Cup due to poor recruitment, so maybe this season won’t suffer as a result. If we lose the Scottish Cup and the league and Celtic wind up trophyless at the end of this season, that would be embarrassing.
