‘I’ve been told’… Mark Guidi shares a summer transfer update that will excite the Celtic fans

Celtic fans have been extremely dissatisfied with the club’s transfer strategy over the last two seasons.

Don’t get me wrong: there have been big success stories like Kyogo Furuhashi, Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate.

Celtic, on the other hand, seems to have an Oliver Abildgaard, Nat Phillips, Yosuke Ideguchi, and Hyeokkyu Kwon for every one of those guys.

And this is due to Celtic’s market position and player trade strategy.

Not paying above £3 million on a player is beneficial in various ways and can pay dividends.

However, as we have witnessed not only this season, but previously under Ange Postecoglou,

the quality is not comparable to spending £6 million on Cameron Carter-Vickers or Jota.

But everything is prepared to  change this summer after what journalist, Mark Guidi, has been told.

Celtic plan to spend this summer

Guidi was speaking on Go Radio last night about Brendan Rodgers needing to replace Joe Hart in the summer,

and while he said there is still value at the lower end of the transfer market scale,

the journalist said he has heard Celtic are about to enter the £6m-£7m player market this summer.

Guidi stated on [The Go Radio Football Show]: “I’ve said many times.” Last season,

I argued that if Celtic can find a Jack Butland or Joe Hart scenario in which it is a free move or a £1 million transfer price followed by a great fat contract, they should go for it.

“But see if you need to invest £6m-£7m, then go for it. Celtic, according to my sources, has returned to that market.

“The days when £3 million was almost like a ceiling have passed.

If players become available for £6 million to £7 million, Celtic will be quite active in the market at that level.

“And that’s the way it should be, particularly for a goalkeeper.”

If this is accurate, Celtic fans will be overjoyed. For far too long,

we’ve seen project players arrive at the club only to fail or be disgraced in the Champions League.

To generate success, proper investment in the first team is necessary,

and it appears that Rodgers has been desiring the quality all season  long, could be about to be added in the summer.

Let’s face it, Celtic have the money to do it.

Let’s hope it’s not to the detriment of this season as poor recruitment has already cost us the League Cup.

It would be embarrassing if it cost us the league and Scottish Cup and Celtic are trophyless at the end of this campaign.
