Philippe Clement waves £27,000 per week star goodbye – As player agrees personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen

The injury list has clearly irritated Philippe Clement since joining Rangers; for lack of a better word, “crippling” is the best way to describe it.

The Gers manager has demonstrated that he has changed the culture at Ibrox and beyond,

with a squad that now believes it can achieve anything with the big Belgian in charge.

However, changes will be made next season, and players who have missed too many games under Philippe Clement and during their Rangers careers will be released in the summer.

Philippe Clement had to say goodbye to one-time Rangers hero.

Kemar Roofe will be a name on the top of this list, even if the 31-year-old striker is not in a hurry to leave:

“What about my future?” Who knows. You’d have to ask the gaffer and those in charge of the contracts.

Rangers v Slavia Praha - UEFA Europa League Round Of 16 Leg Two

“Yes, I would like to stay. I truly enjoy playing for this team and under this coach. What he’s brought to the club is enormous.

“He’s created a true machine mindset — we go again, as if we had a switch.

“We are disappointed right now about Europe, but we will rebound and redouble our efforts. We have a triple to go for this season, and they may achieve a quadruple next season.”

With only 98 games in four seasons, there is no way that a manager who rates robustness so high on his list of player traits will entertain thoughts of awarding him a new contract to Roofe.

What he will see is an opportunity to offer the Jamaica international’s reported £27,000 per week wage to someone who will not only contribute but also be available to play.

Despite his troubles, Kemar Roofe will have great memories of the Rangers.

When Roofe was at his Old Firm best.

An Old Firm double.

Rangers enjoyed their final derby of 2020/21 after winning the league title.

None more so than a fit and firing Roofe, who would finish the season with the most goals in the league.

The two goals against Celtic demonstrated why he has earned the reputation as the club’s finest finisher.

An instinctual one with his chest and the other, to complete a move he started, with a perfectly timed run into the box and textbook header.

He was rarely seen in better shape than during this game.

Roofe scored the greatest goal in Rangers history, known as “That” goal.

Kemar Roofe missed out on the Puskas award for best goal as well as UEFA’s goal of the season due to timing alone.

Even so, it should have won based on the eventual victors.

Regardless of the stage or importance, he overcame five players on a soggy pitch and scored from his own half – unbelievable.

It is the best goal a Rangers player has ever scored, if importance and passion are not considered.

Roofe demonstrates kung fu talents in red card mayhem.

The other memory isn’t one of magic, but rather one that will never be forgotten for all the wrong reasons.

Sent on against Slavia Prague in an effort to get Rangers back into the Europa League round of 16,

he was back down the tunnel inside 10 minutes after putting Ondrej Kolar in the hospital with a terrible challenge.

Deliberate? No.

But it was as hazardous as you could imagine, and it dashed Rangers’ dreams of a comeback on a night of football that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Roofe’s goals per minute ratio for Rangers, 38 in 98 games, is exactly what Philippe Clement is searching for this summer.

but he wants a striker who will not need four years to achieve so.
