Tottenham is currently not making Gareth Southgate happy.

Three days after the Premier League season ends, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United will play a friendly. However, England manager Gareth Southgate has acknowledged that the plans are not optimal for his preparations for Euro 2024.

Even if the football season is already competitive and packed, on May 22nd Spurs and Newcastle will play a friendly to extend their season. Melbourne is the location of the game.

Tottenham and Newcastle reportedly anticipate that every healthy player will travel (Mail Sport). This includes any athletes from other countries who might be getting ready for the June 14th start of Euro 2024.

James Maddison, Anthony Gordon, and Kieran Trippier, among others, will almost certainly play in the friendly and may even make Southgate’s England team for the competition.

This friendly won’t have a big impact on the England team, in my opinion. Like Southgate states, he will simply have to deal with the fact that there are a lot of important games following the Spurs friendly that probably feature other England players.
