Major setback for the Rangers when their “fantastic” ace gets hurt while serving abroad

This will be Philippe Clement’s biggest worry.

The announcement of a “fantastic” player’s fitness issue while on international duty has dealt Rangers a serious injury blow.
Rangers injury and transfer updates

With one game remaining against their Old Firm opponents, the Gers are one point behind the leaders in the Scottish Premiership and are experiencing a tight season.

The Scottish powerhouses are still being connected to possible new additions,

even if the majority of attention is understandably focused on the title fight as Philippe Clement attempts to cap off a fantastic first season as manager.

Fluminense defender Jefte is a player that could be the first man Rangers sign in the summer.

The left-back was a target in the January transfer window.

There is supposedly a verbal agreement in place, so a deal might be reached by the end of the season.

It appears that the Gers are also very focused on enhancing their attack this summer,

and regardless of what happens to Abdallah Sima and Fabio Silva, a new striker is being considered.

Both players are merely on loan at the moment, but if Rangers can match Brighton’s and Wolves’ respective wage demands and qualify for the Champions League,

their deals might become permanent.

Apart from the transfer situation, Rangers’ current injury woes are proving to be a nuisance that Clement could do without in the race for the championship.

In addition to Danilo, Kieran Dowell, and Sima, who are now missing, there is now cause for significant anxiety.

“Fantastic” ace suffers injury setback for Rangers

Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz sustained a “great misfortune” injury while playing for Turkey while on international duty,

according to Turkish publication Ajansspor [via Sport Witness] during their friendly match against Hungary on Friday night.

The 22-year-old is thought to have injured his foot, tried to continue playing, and eventually went down again.

He was substituted in the 27th minute. It’s unclear how serious the injury is at this point, and it’s unclear if he’ll be ready for his nation’s match against Austria on Tuesday.

Yilmaz has been a regular this season, starting 15 league games and totaling 22 appearances in the competition;

this news will be of great concern to Clement and all Rangers supporters.

The manager could really utilize his availability ahead of some key games,

especially as the team will need to rotate at this point—especially considering how much of a mess the Gers are in after last weekend’s delay against Dundee.

Although Yilmaz may not be the first name on Clement’s teamsheet,

the This Is Ibrox podcast has called him “fantastic” in the previous year,

and there’s no doubt that he will be viewed as a key player between now and the campaign’s conclusion.

Although it’s hoped that his injury is minor and that his substitution was more of a precaution,

there’s every cause to be concerned about a layoff following the international break.
